"Returning to Huizhou and striving for 14 years, I have caught the express train of the Bay Area era"

In 2003, he/she immigrated to Hong Kong with his family from Huizhou. In 2008, I returned to Huizhou from Hong Kong to start a business. After five years of going around in circles, why is that? Dennis Cheung's answer was, "Times have changed."

In 2003, when Dennis Cheung left his native Huizhou, he was in his thirties. With the ambition of "making a big splash", he came to Hong Kong, the place he had longed for, mainly engaged in the export trade of plastic products.

However, the high rent and labor costs for the venue, the cramped living environment, the high cost of living, coupled with the business volume that never increased, made Dennis Cheung  feel that there was a "huge gap" and he began to doubt his choice.

In 2008, Hong Kong, as a highly open economy, was severely impacted by the global financial crisis. My hometown, Huizhou, is experiencing an unprecedented rapid development. The urban construction is changing with each passing day, and high-rise buildings are springing up from the ground.

At that time, Dennis Cheung  did a calculation: renting one square meter of factory building in Huizhou costs about 8 yuan, the labor cost is around 1,000 yuan per month, and the logistics cost has also decreased significantly in recent years. Without much hesitation, Dennis Cheung  vacated his office in Hong Kong and returned to Huizhou with his entire family to seek new opportunities.

With the country's increasing emphasis on ecological and environmental protection and the continuous strengthening of policies, I was no longer content with merely engaging in trade. I invested in Worldchamp (Huizhou) Plastic Products Co., Ltd. and began to venture into the field of plastic products production, manufacturing disposable gloves, shopping bags, garbage bags, aprons and other plastic products, mainly exported to Japan, the United States, Europe, the Middle East and other countries. Dennis Cheung said.

Over the years, Dennis Cheung 's business has grown larger and larger, but the sudden outbreak of the epidemic brought his foreign trade business to a brief halt. So, closely following the national policy orientation, he began to research and produce fully biodegradable plastics. Since September last year, he has been capable of manufacturing 100% biodegradable and compostable plastic products, with a maximum monthly production capacity of over 400 tons, achieving a shift from export to domestic sales.

Our biodegradable plastic can be completely degraded by microorganisms within 180 days under normal composting conditions. Dennis Cheung introduced that all plastic products of Shixiang have passed the compostable and biodegradable certifications, meeting the requirements of EN13432(EU), BPIASTMD-6400 and D-6868. They are continuously supplied to provinces and cities such as Hainan, Shanghai and Shenzhen, and exported to more than ten countries including the United States and Europe.

It is worth mentioning that in 2020, Worldchamp (Huizhou) Plastic Products Co., Ltd. completed its "small-scale to large-scale" transformation and became a large-scale enterprise in Zhongkai District. In 2021, it was recognized as a high-tech enterprise in Huizhou City and moved into the Huizhou Zhongkai Hong Kong and Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Base, enjoying the "nanny-style" services provided by the base.

After returning to Huizhou to strive for 14 years, Dennis Cheung  frankly stated that he had caught the express train of the Greater Bay Area era - "The urban appearance of Huizhou has been completely renewed. It has a solid industrial foundation, a huge market demand, and many enterprises around us are expanding rapidly. We deeply feel the vigorous vitality of this city's development." Now, the dividends of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have just been released, and we are very optimistic about the development prospects of Huizhou.
